Stoner Prairie Park & Restoration Greenspace

Stoner Prairie Park & Restoration Greenspace

EOR guided the Master Plan Development of Stoner Prairie Park and worked with City staff and the Parks Commission through several meetings, to identify goals and constraints of the site and how to maximize use, while minimizing environmental impact. Adjacent to two schools and within a growing residential neighborhood, this 10-acre park needs to service a variety of users, while committing to improving the ecological benefits of its site.

The final design includes improvements and amenities to serve all users in creating an activity hub that includes a covered shelter, dedicated play areas, bike facilities, and a basketball court. Park pathways were designed to improve flow and access, while minimizing the division of open spaces, allowing these expansive areas of restored native plantings to provide bird, insect, and other wildlife habitat.

Client Benefits

  • EOR identified a phasing strategy allowing the stakeholders to identify goals within the plan.
  • Collaborated with stakeholders to create a strategic plan used to maintain the budget and in providing accurate cost estimates.
  • Design maximizes ecological benefits and increases ecohabitat for pollinators and other critical species.
