Sustainable Communities

Residential and Municipal Smart Growth Opportunities

Our projects include various scales and building types from market-rate, multi-family urban housing to education facilities and multi-phased municipal capital improvement projects. These projects are designed to minimize water usage through preservation, infiltration, harvesting, and re-use while providing beauty and functionality in all outdoor spaces.

The Rose Sustainable Urban Housing - Minneapolis, MN

The Rose redevelopment project on the edge of downtown Minneapolis provides a mix of affordable and market rate housing units. EOR designed a network of high-performance site components for the sustainability-focused project, including an intensive green roof, a community garden with water harvesting and reuse, and multiple low profile bioretention cells.

Southdale Library - Edina, MN

EOR, in partnership with MSR design, developed a full site redevelopment plan and schematic design for the iconic Southdale Library in Edina, Minnesota. The project sought to restore a nearly 100% impervious 7-acre parking lot into an urban oasis of wildlife habitat, recreational opportunities, and green infrastructure. The plan was inspired by the pre-settlement era ecosystems of the region and the goal of creating a reparative, joyful, educational, and engaging landscape for the community.

Terravessa Development - Fitchburg, WI

EOR provided master planning, community space and park design for this 243-acre high-density residential and commercial development plat. Green infrastructure was interwoven with public amenities to create a walkable community with ample green space for recreation-use and wildlife habitat.
